As a person who is operating his or her own "traditional" (also known as "brick and mortar") business, you probably don't see the Internet as a necessity. You probably use it for email but little else. Perhaps you have a very basic website. Maybe that's been working for you. But what if you want to take your business further than it is now? There is a vast and varied market of people who do almost all of their shopping online--you could learn how to reach those people. So how do you go about this? Here are a few Internet Marketing tips that you can use to expand your traditional business.

Make a video of your business. This is different to filming and advertisement.

One thing you will hear, practically from the minute that you start researching Internet Marketing methods, is that you need to build a "list." Here is the good news, if you have been asking people for their email addresses when they buy from your stores or hire you for your services, you are already doing this. A "list" is basically just a list of email addresses to which you are allowed to send direct marketing messages. It is easy to ask a person to opt in to your list when they buy a product from you or hire you. Make sure your website has an "opt-in" box as well. There are lots of options available to you when you encourage people to sign up for your list.

Build your site around a set of specific keywords. You can employ the Google Keyword Search tool to choose the most appropriate ones for your company. There's a good chance you've already heard of SEO or search engine optimization. One component of SEO is making sure that your site is adequately optimized around specific keywords. These terms are generally the ones people use to try and identify businesses similar to yours when they run a search using the big search engines.

You have all sorts of options when it comes to integrate Internet Marketing techniques into brick and mortar and offline businesses. You may be doing a few of these already without even knowing it. Simply building a website, for example, is something that every Internet Marketer has to do. Using social media, gathering email address, sending marketing messages to your list--all of these things are IM techniques that can help you expand your business. So don't shun the Internet, love the Internet so that you can use it to build your profit margin.
